Adios Espana, Ola Portugal!

I can't believe how quickly 3 months went by, but it's official..My course has come to an end. I know that Salamanca will always have a special place in my heart, and I will forever be grateful for the experience..but that being said it's time for a summer of travel and adventure!

On Thursday I packed my stuff into a backpack and set out for a two month tour of Europe. As I was walking to the bus station in the ninety degree heat I questioned my sanity but that's what travel is all about, breaking out of the comfort zone! (Don't let the smile fool you I was dying inside)
First stop was Porto, Portugal! When I got there I felt a mix of emotions.. overwhelmed, excited, nervous. I was no longer in a country where I know the language and everything seemed foreign but this kind of unknown thrills me. After I got to my hostel (all by myself mind you) I checked in and set out to explore the city with some new friends. Later in the evening I reunited with Hayley, our second reunion of 2017!

The first day we did a walking tour of the city to see the main sights. Even though it was super hot we had such a great time, Porto is such a beautiful city!

That night we went out to dinner and went dancing. Of course the American and British girls were the only ones in the club when we arrived..Portugese people don't go to clubs until 3 am

The next day we were tired of being tourists so decided to head to the beach..so beautiful!

On our last night in Porto we went to an Italian restaurant for old times sake and walked down the the river and across the bridge..the city is even more beautiful at night!

SO happy I got to have another reunion and see the beautiful city of Porto. Next up, Lisboa!

Gringuitas en Sudamerica

A few years I studied Spanish for a summer in Costa Rica, and one of the girls I met at my school has become one of my very best friends. We were in Costa Rica at the same time, for the same amount of time (I definitely think this was fate) and we just clicked right away. We had so much fun over those four weeks but unfortunately lived on opposite coasts so we never saw one another. One day, she messaged me saying she was planning a trip to South America and asked if I wanted to join her. My immediate answer was YES! Hands down yes. Did I care that I already had a big trip planned that year? No. Did I care that it would be a stretch financially? Nope! Did I care that I was a maid of honor in my sister's wedding weeks after I got back? Absolutely not! (Sorry Kier) For months we spent hours on the phone together; a mix of catching up and planning for our trip. Although we hadn't seen each other in 5 years I was so excited to meet up and take on another part of the world together...
