When I planned my trip for this summer I realized that there was a week between Kiera leaving me and Jen coming to meet me. I played a little thing called flight roulette..plugged the dates I needed into my favorite website (skyscanner)and picked the cheapest option for a country I had yet to visit. My result: Warsaw, Poland! My excitement quickly escalated when I realized that via train it was quite feasible to also check off Krakow and do a day trip to Auschwitz. Without any further hesitation I bought my flight and started making all the arrangements.
With only about 24 solid hours in Warsaw I decided my best bet was to do a free walking tour (one of the best things about major cities in Europe!) Our tour guide took us around all the major sights and although it is a capital city it was walkable within two hours.
One of the things that struck me most on my tour was the remainder of the ghetto wall pointed out by our guide. When the tour was over, I went back and took a moment to really take in what I was seeing.
1943..wait what? It was so crazy that less than 75 years ago people were being physically confined to a certain part of a city based on their religious beliefs/their heritage. This alone made me so deeply sad and I knew it would only be worse when I get to Auschwitz..but this is what I love about travel..The opportunity to learn and grow, open your mind and your heart.
The next day I was super excited to head out to Krakow not only because I LOVE visiting new cities but I knew I would be reuniting with Haley upon arrival! The second I walked out of the train station I knew I was going to fall in love with the city and I was definitely not disappointed. From the charming streets, brightly colored buildings to the perogies 😍and our amazing hostel Krakow was an amazing experience!

Third city together in 2017 😎Thanks for coming to meet up with me Hay! SUCH a fun weekend together as always! 💗

Not quite as warm here as it was in Greece but amazing none the less!
